We have a similar one on the dash of the van at work , it has numbers and an up or down arrow.
It gets totally ignored !

The info should be in the car handbook but it's an indicator to tell you when to shift up or down a gear --


SHIFT LEVER INDICATOR (Manual transmission – where fitted)

The shift lever indicator can help to improve the level of environmentally friendly driving. When the up arrow appears, upshifting is recommended.When the down arrow appears, downshifting is recommended.


The up and down arrows only appear when the car is moving.
