For those of you with an E12 and want a workshop manual, for under ÂŁ3.00 you can get a download from the following site.

If some old 71 year old can find things like this, why can't the younger members do the same, bloody beats me
I know your 75 now and I hope your still with us. Although I'm a mere whipper snapper at 55 that link no longer works and I'm searching for a workshop manual :ROFLMAO::LOL:

This is no different from the other manuals that were introduced in this thread already. This version is circulated around quite a bit, but is not for the Note but the Versa Note, ie the US domestic version, so it only has the HR16DE engine. Apart from the engine, there are also a few other differences that make this manual average at best. I have a version of it and I don't even bother, especially since my car is a JDM. I am yet to see any other service manual appear for the Note. There is a Micra manual that is also circulated that is of a abundant use, particularly since it has the engines that we are all used to.

One of the things I noticed when I got my Note was the chaos that is the fuse boxes. My car technically has four of them. Two in the engine bay (one on top of the other, behind the battery), one on the left side of the dashboard and the other under the steering column. The one you are looking at is under the steering column. The diagram is on the back of the cover you removed to see it, but the cigarette lighter fuse is not located there.

Look at the one on the left hand side of the dashboard:

The diagram is on the back of the cover as well:

The "cigarette lighter" fuse should be the 15 amp one labelled as "POWER SOCKET" and has the orange arrows pointing to it in the pictures above.

I say "should be" because I have found that the this fuse box has markings that don't seem to be accurate. I pulled fuses that should have caused the engine to not start (ELEC IG, PUSH ENG START, etc) but it still did. The Owner's manual does not have a fuse box diagram and neither does the workshop manual. This is my first Nissan and I can tell you that this is the most poorly documented vehicle I have ever owned. The manuals are just poorly written.

Thanks for detail explanation and those pictures.

When you said the 4th fuse box is besides dashboard, looks like yours is LHD (left hand drive, sorry, can’t see the pedals in the pic, may be I am wrong), but mine is RHD.

And that cover on the left side of my RHD has a sticker “air bag” on it, so I didn’t try to open it….. but let me try tmr and see if I can see the “4th fuse box”. I am quite surprised, I never think of having an extra fuse box there….

Few hours ago I tried to pull out the 15A fuse in the fuse box under steering column, the “cigarette lighter” is still working under ACC…. So you are correct that this should not control that component.

Will post more detail after my test ….. thanks a lot

You're welcome.

My car is right hand drive, from Japan. Reread what I said about the fuse box. It is on the left hand side of the dashboard, not beside it. Open the left door and you will see a cover on the side of the dashboard. Remove it and you will see the fuse box.

Yes, the cover has a sticker on it that says "AIRBAG". But think about this: The glovebox is closer to the airbag and you open that every day, right? Are you afraid to open the glovebox? I don't think you are. Remove the cover and only concern yourself with the fusebox and you will be fine. If you are planning to work on this or any other car, you have to be brave, confident, and have the correct tools. If you start to wobble on any of those three you are going to cause damage to the car or yourself.

You sound like you doubt what we're telling you...
