Changing Stereo

I have a 2008 Tekna with a 6 cd changer unit fitted - I want to be able to connect my iPod via usb and I'm guessing the easiest way is to change the stereo.

In my old 2007 SE Note I put in a Sony headunit with an adapter for the steering controls and it worked fine but it was a single unit so won't fit in the new Note!

Looking on eBay I've found this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-No...reo-Head-Unit-USB-MP3-/161524593373?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item259b9db2dd

The description makes it sound easy peasy - a straight swap with no extra adapters needed other than what is supplied - is that really the case?

The Chinese children that make those don't do a very good job

You may be lucky and it works for a few months, but people on other forums have fitted simillar and they always break.

Best to spend a bit more and buy a Connect, or if you must go aftermarket, something with a brand name on the front.

Thanks - will any double din stereo slide straight in?
Also if I get a Sony will the steering control adapter from the old stereo/Note fit? (Trying to save as much money as possible!)Edited by: nikkisun

Sony just uses the brand name to sell there in car stuff it isn't great imho, steer clear of Chinese no name rubbish - buy cheap, buy twice
There is no audio control adapter in the note you will need to fit one with any aftermarket radio

what 6 disk do you have ?

If its 1. its a straight swap (plus controls adapter)

If its 2. you will have to change the surround as this 6 disk is non standard size

there is tons of info on here regarding stereos and what's needed -please use the search and look in the How To's.

stick with the brands like alpine, pioneer or Kenwood

I have fitted a few of these http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/head-units/double-din/alpine-cde-w235btevery thing you want and Bluetooth too

I have been in to car audio for 17+ years

ps.do not go to halfrauds as there over priced and will tell all sorts of untruths

Mine is similar to the top one but with Bluetooth.

I know I'll have to fit a control adapter - I have one from my old Sony stereo that was fitted in my old note - that's why I thought if I got a Sony stereo I could use the adapter I have rather than buying a new one.

Basically the way I want to use the stereo is my iPhone connected via bt for calls and my iPod connected by usb so I can control it using the stereo controls. Edited by: nikkisun

what make is the controls adapter if its autoleads or connect2 you can just buy a cheap patch lead (ÂŁ2-3)that plugs into the black box
as you have the later radio you will need aiso adapter - less than ÂŁ5

You will need a PC99-PIO (pioneer patch) custom patch lead for the speakers/power/audio controls and a gt13 aerial adapter -CT27AA27

Can I jump in and ask a similar question.

I'm looking at buying a 2009 Acenta. There's an audio headphone jack input but no USB input. There's bluetooth.

What's the best way of getting a USB input and will it work with the steering controls?

Many thanks.

have you made a adapter lead up for the power/speakers/audio controls as the radio you have in your note the plugs will not be iso (black block)
