pop the holder out and remove the bulb

 

Forgot to say that the lights on the inside of the car also do not go out, but at least I can turn these off.

 

Update,
think I may have found the problem. We cover the boot with a old curtain this as jammed between the boot door lock/catch when the boot was shut. When I try to pull it out the cloth just starts to rip. Any suggestions please.

 

yes...don't chuck old curtains over your boot

 

Ah cut the curtain and pull it while Someone try's to open the boot

There's not a great deal you can do till you get the curtain out

You may have to fold the back seats down and remove the trapped curtain that way

 

wedge one of your tusks under the boot handle then grasp the blanket firmly with your trunk and PULL...it works for me

 

I need to remove the boot light bulb as mentioned by "flash22" above.
Looking at the manual the light cover needs to be dislodged by means of a
screw driver blade, am I reading this correct?

 

"cut the curtain and pull it while Someone try's to open the boot". Tried this to no avail, re connected the battery, low and behold, the boot opened. Pulling the boot door/curtain must have just moved it enough, so that when connected back up, lock released. That's my theory anyhow!. Thank you all for your help/advice.

 

ah good yes...... I was half a sleep last nightand didn't twig - electronic boot release requires battery voltage - 0 volts that boot is staying closed
