Hi,

Just wondering if 3000 revs at 70mph is the norm? It's our first car with a rev counter! :D It sounds quite loud. But then I've found the Note more throaty than our old corsa.

Ta,

Most likely. Depends on the engine size and type.
23mph per 1000 rpm seems reasonable.

I agree with mni's observation.Out of interest, our 1.4 Xsara showed 3100 at 70 mph, my Picasso at 70 shows 3000rpm and thewife's1.4 note shows 3100rpm at 70 mph

Had a look today, 51MPH indicated @ 2000 rpm, should give about 76 indicated @ 3000, which is about 68 MPH true.

My 1.4L Manual does around 3200 at ~70MPH. Wish I had a 6th gear for motorwaycruising!

I agree, the Note is great around town, but not so good on the motorway (well my 1.4 Accenta at least). I must be honest, my old '52 Peugeot 206 1.4 felt more suited to motorway driving, but I suppose it's not what it's built for.

Besides, I've got a diesel Rav4 for long runs; with the 6th gear!!

my 1.6 auto sits just over 3000 revs at 70 (clock reading which we all know is a little below the actual) so yes your car is about right, mine is also a little throaty but only noticable on setting off, once running i dont hear it any more....
