if its a factory fit connect the usb port is in the top cubby theres plenty of room in there for any usb player unless its an ipad or that sort of size
tbh i dont likehaving my ipod in the car all the time, so i just have a usb stick,£300 ipod vs a 8 quid usb stick if the worse does happen it doesnt hurt as much

Have to agree with Flash; USB sticks have never been cheaper. Just 'upgraded' to a 16GB Sandisk drive for £11 from www.7dayshop.com.

Thanks for replying so quick Nigel and Flash, the basic idea was to hide my walkman in the glove box and feed the cable behind the dash up to the usb connection, and your idea of the memory stick does make more sense.

Typical, having just looked, the 32GB SanDisk drives are now only £12 at 7dayshop

I was toying with the idea of putting in a cheap portable HDD but the USB power is neither high enough to spin one up nor will the Connect recognise anything over 100GB.

only thing with the usb drive is it has to be in mp3 format itunes loves to put things m4a formats tho
i have a 2gb stick in the car with iirc 9 albums on it, 20gb works out to be around 3000 mp3s or 9.5days worth of music lol

many moons ago a 32gb sandisk usb pen set me back £90 quid

In 1981 a 1k ZX81 cost £100. Mind you, petrol was less than £1 a gallon. Isn't nostalgia fun.

If you have MP4 and MP4a tools then I can recommend http://www.maniactools.com/soft/m4a-to-mp3-converter/?ref=m4a-home&version=7.1&b=7101.

This has faultlessly 'translated' all of my MP4a files.

I was selling specialist computer systems in 1988 and a 16 colour terminal with (will they ever need more?) 32MB of memory was £6800 and a (how could they possibly use it all?) 4MB memory upgrade was just under £1000.

Glad some things are a lot cheaper now.
