HelloI have just got my first Nissan (Note) this week and it seems a fine car.

Still waiting for my drivers handbook, so can I ask a couple of questions?

1. There does not seem to be anywhere showing the engine temp - where is it?
2. Have found the oil dipstick- but what about the auto oil dipstick?
3. Does the rear window demister button also demist the mirrors at same time?

Think I have worked everything else out myself.

Thank you everyone

Should help you out

The only way to tell the engine is at operating temperature is- if it is, then the gearbox will go into lock up at about 40mph

The really old notes used to have a warning lamp that changed colour so it was one colour cold, went out when normal and turns red when hot.

Thanks both of you - have located the auto dipstick now!Understand the SE does have heated mirrors and the handbook I downloaded 'suggested' they come on only by operating the rear screen demister - they call the switch 'defogger'
Will try it out!

yes its fairly simple 4-5 wires and you need to work out where to put the gauge

electrical gauges are best as there less hassle to fit price wise anything from £15 up to £300 for a defi gauge,

stack, smiths (CA) and vdo are good gauges, budget depo racing gauges are gvfm ( everything bar the t-piece is in the box)but a lot of gauges just come as a bare gauge only

Merlin motorsport

Hmm that sounds fairly straight forward. Is there place for the temp sensor or will I have to fit one into one of the rad hoses.
Many thanks.

David.
