Hi

I have a Nissan Note 1.6 Auto Tekna.

Accepting the fact the UK motorway speed limit is 70mph, is there an optimum cruising speed for the Note or is this governed by the maximum rpm ?

Thanks.

I think in general. most cars have an optimum speed of around 56mph, for performance, economy and comfort and getting from A to B.

Agree with Boysie, if you go too slow, the gearbox doesn't lock up and wastes fuel, too fast and you waste fuel.

I cruise at 3000rpm on a motorway, probably 68 real mph, reads about 75 Nissan MPH, but there are only 1600 yards to the Nissan mile (and 5 litres to a Nissan gallon too
)

2500 gives me 100kph(62mph).......and that's about where I sit.

Oh....what is a motorway, not many of those where I live.

I cruise at 3000 rpm in my 1.4 petrol which fells like the natural speed for the car, nice and quiet, and with goog mpg.

I too have a 1.4 petrol and agree that 3000rpm is the natural speed for the car anything above that and the engine 'sounds' laboured even though it's not; unlike the 1.4 Fiat Tipo I had in the 90's, that had a gem of an engine,any gear any rpm and it sounded fine.
