Hi my friend has just purchased a Nissan note and the guy she got it from says it needs a new head unit (with sat nav). The radio works but when the cars off the radio can can come on by itself at any time, which then causes the battery to drain. Does anyone know if there’s really a need for a whole new head unit or if it could just be a simple wiring problem? Thanks :)

The radio units fitted in the Note are really fragile bits of kit. Susceptible to heat damage and once they start playing up it's usually best to chuck them out and fit something more robust, like an andriod unit.
Search the forum for issues relating to the radio and you'll see what i mean.

When car is turned off, IPDM (relay box) should disable electric to the head unit.
So I guess it is a problem with IPDM or some accidental wiring touch somewhere.

When i owned a 59 plate Note, the radio could be switched on regardless of any key in or out of the ignition. I even switched it on with me sat in the car with the doors locked, but mine never switched itself on.
