Just think we messing a Nissan Connect topic.
any problems, suggestions, questions....

Does anyone see system (not maps) update since when connect is on the market?
I'm just update maps from 2008 to 2010 but not system updates there, I think any system updates will be allocated together with maps on SD card. Looks like BOSH make perfect system witch do not need any updates.

Its a bosch system, firmware updates are released only with the new units, With a consult system you can turn on/off functions like the pre-outs and reversing camera if there are any updates it would be on a new sd or a dealer install only via consult
i have looked into voices ect for the connectbut the data on the sd and firmware is heavly encrypted, the file structure is like the garmin nuvi tho

if we get some bad weather this year i will take a second look at it

Hi
I play a lot with Garmin nuvi and can assure you that files system in connect are nothing like Garmin's
only common thing for both of them is NAVTEQ maps.
I mean adding functions in Sat nav system itself, things like line assistant, speed limits showing on screen and proper support for a speed camera files is now days a must, lack of them put Nissan Connect well back in Time, My nuvi 765 very old one now, is like from the future compare to connect

I see other connect unit form 2011 and do not see any different in navigation.
Maybe we should bombard BOSH with emails request better functionality form their
system.

I've had a couple of issues:

The radio and USB turned it self off. I could not get it back on until I turned the engine off.
All other parts of it worked.

I lost the connection with my Nokia phone, but this was because I had updated the phone software.

Does anyone know how to turn ittotallyOFF when driving?

Yes I know. But it's nice to know as I would also just like to turn the screen off. When driving in SAS mode.

The connect does support poi's and speed camera poi's to a max of 2gb on earlly connects and 4 gb on the later ones, a lot of the functions are deacivated on the note connect

The birdview sat nav doesnt support postcodes or poi's

I have a lot of tech data for the connect and have retro fitted 5-6 connects and made 20+ conversion leads

hi
The birdview GPS was fittet in older units <2005?) in cars like nissan Almera or Primera etc. , Note has new Nissan Connect with maps on SD cards, POI support and postcode search. what you mean about deactivated function in Note ?. are you mean reverse camera?.
Yes I know that Connect support speed camera but its recognise them like POI proximately warnings, that mean it will show you warning for speed camera witch is in your choice of radius (250y and more) from you position, maybe not on you road at all!, what more it will not reconize your direction of moving is well. You get lots of warning of speed camera approaching all over the place (if you put mobile one is well), in the end of the day you will switch warning off the are so annoying!.

there are 08 cars out there with the bird nav but mainly older 4x4s that wernt reg'd (old new stock)
the connect premium is a pig of a system only thing it shares is the lcd

the standard connect has 3 pairs of pre outs as well as the camera input there also another aux in iirc it to do wi with the north american sat radio input

iam sure with a firmware hack you could pull obd info off the can lines as well a bcm info

there is nothing about and I doubt there will be the eeprom is ultra secure it requires very specialist kit as you need to directly connect to the chip and read it what is around £3-500 tbh its a bit above my skill level or intrest
there is also a memory chip and another eeprom on the display, the factory programing and testing is done via contact pads on the bottom of the main board what can be accessed by via the cover in the case

have a look through all the pages here http://www.noteownersclub.co.uk/forum/nissan-connect-revisted_topic1408_page1.html?KW=connect
