Anyone ever fitted a USB sccket on the blank space next to esp by fuse box?...any help on where to wire it would be appreciated ..thanks

What do you want it to do?

If it is to connect to the radio, then obviously it will have to wire to the connector on the back of the radio, or just plug into the existing usb socket in the cubby above the radio.

If it is just power, then wouldn't it be easier to fit another 12V outlet in parallel with the existing one, and put usb power adaptor into it?

You can get adapters with two USB ports that fit into your cigar lighter. (that's if they call them that now?)No rewiring required

It's nearly2 months since I asked "PhilT" to come back and tell uswhat he has done to get an extra USB socket in his Note, again, not even bothered to answer if he has sorted out his little problem. Why do we bother

Oh terribly sorry all I have only received an email reply notification on this post. Apologies to replies ..about sockets yes you can buy but the wiring was vague so decided not to try it..and yes i had already the power socket adaptors but some get so hot when you have sat nav and phone charging on them at times. There is a break out small panel near the fuse box that takes a USB unit but I dont know about the wiring. I don't know why I did not have any notifications till now on this thread

. We get so many members coming in the forum asking a question then getting good advice, then not even telling us if the problem was resolved. It's always handy if we do get feed back as it can help further members with the same problem.Once again, thanks for coming back

That's modern technology for you, everything requires a USB socket

Going back to "PhilT" problem. In the fuse box you have options, do you want power to the USB sockets on all the time or only on when the ignition is on?

And here is the finished produt. 2 x double usb sockets, powered by the cigarette lighter socket on the back end of the center console. Each outlet has 1 x 1A and 1 x 2.1A socket, with a blue led power on indicator and dust cover.

I also used a piggy back fuse holder in the fuse box for a powered mini usb cable for the sat nav, the cable comes out of the bottom of the driver's A pillar. Can add photos of that if anyone wants to view.

The O.P. can get a piggy back fuse holder and usb socket and put it where he originally enquired about.
