My Father in Law, was a Garage Manager in Greenford, in the 1970's.  I can't remember the exact details, but some old boy brought an Aston Martin to look at.  Miss firing engine, so he said.

My f.i.l had a look at all the usual suspects, but after a 2 day investigation, it turned out it had a wooden piston.ShockedLOLLOL

Just watched Flipping Bangers MR2.  They seem to be back on track, changed a rubber boot and covered it in fablon to make £1000 Big smile

Yeah.......sold it for a reasonable profit.  But how do they survive, when they earn £300+,each, and pay the bills at the workshop, and be able to afford a beer.LOLLOL
Your forgot the seal on the distributer.........a few pennies yes, but time doing that, and cleaning the induction system, comes at a price.

Last week was peanuts for profit.  I feel sorry for their kiddies, running around in bare feet, and going hungry.  Not to mention the wifes purple rinses, and nail polish.WinkLOL

I will say, the program is growing on me.......so I get it now. Wink

Fairly sure they didn't give up the day job as their main income is probs from TV work.

They did a good job on the MR2.  Helped that the car was pretty good to start with, just needed a proper service.

What channel is this "Flipping Bangers" on, I've looked for it, but cannot find, maybe they don't show it on the Yorkshire area TV?

I'll have to go round to my local village garage, in the village church magazine they call it a vintage garage, he has so many old cars in there for servicing and full restoration, and I'll try and take a few photos when he gets another proper car in.
At the moment he's got an old Lagonda he's working on the engine and interior he said there are only 12 of these motors in the world, when I asked him the price, he said he couldn't put a price on it.

Watched Flippin' Bangers Citroen last night.

It is just set-up light entertainment Smile, you will never learn anything that you didn't know already from watching that pair.

A car can stand 14 years on grass with deflated suspension and be totally rust free, and even start literally on the second rotation of the engine- yeah right LOL

And notice how overjoyed he is to be given the wrong hand bonnet hinge: luckily it had morphed into the correct hand and colour by the time he got home. Wink

Immediately after there was this programme where two teams of thoroughly unlikeable characters bought a car each (a Defender and a Shogun) and parted it out to see who could make the most money in 3 days. Proper car crash TV that, I detested every second of it, but I couldn't turn it off.

Yeah.....take it for what is really. Light entertainment.....with a bit of interest.Wink

The next time I put a car in storage, it'll definitely be put under brambles.LOLLOL

Quite liked the car though, but not for £2500.   I bought a 1.4 from a Car auction for £25, with mot &Tax for 5 months.  Ran it....(when it started), for the 5 months.  Then weighed it in at a scrap yard. Made £35 profit.LOL
F reg I think it was, not a bit of serious rust on it.  What ever electrics there were , worked fine. I did think about getting an MOT and keeping it.  Engine was very tired, so it had to go.

All these shows are tongue in cheek, with a bit of faiiry dust and wishful thinking.  However, I'm still mldly amused by them.

But 'Flippin Bangers' better make more 'profit'.....as they gave up their day jobs and took out a £10k loan.WinkLOLLOLLOL

I'll keep an eye for them, in the dole queue.Wink
